The Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) test measures the amount of glucose attached to hemoglobin, a protein in your blood. It reflects your average blood glucose levels over the past three months. This test is commonly used to diagnose and monitor diabetes.
A healthy HbA1c level is below 5.7%. If your level is above 5.7%, it may indicate high blood glucose, which could be a sign of diabetes or prediabetes. It’s important to discuss elevated results with your healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
